COME AND PLAY MUSIC WITH US!

We are a spelmanslag. “Spelmanslag” is a Scandinavian term for a large group of people playing folk music together. Any instrument is welcome in our spelmanslag. Almost all learning of music is by ear, without sheet music. If you are not used to this, still don't hestitate to join us. Anyone can learn music by ear, that we can promise you. The musical level of the musicians ranges from beginners to very skilled folk musicians, but we still sound good and have lots of fun together. There is no "entrance test" to join, just show up, at any time of the semester. We rehearse thursdays at 7 PM o’clock at the V-dala student nation, S:t Larsgatan 13, Uppsala.

The traditional music that we play is mainly Swedish, along with some tunes from neighboring countries. One big reason we focus on Swedish music (besides the fact that we are here now) is that people often dance to our concerts and the Swedish dancers naturally know the Swedish dances best. However, you will surely meet people in the spelmanslag who are interested in learning the music from where you come from too. Join us also for other social activities like parties (often with wonderful musical jamming), dance evenings and travels in Sweden and abroad.
